Sonnet for Poetry Month #3
Oh please hold me in your arms once again
As you did that night in February.
If only I had known what it was then:
The only time you'd ever forgive me.
Soon you would say to me, simple and plain,
"We are done" and mean it was forever.
Do you have any idea the pain
It cost me, that unexpected sever?
The force of it made my heart ricochet
Between two equal forces, love to hate
Then back, and it continues to this day.
Did my "crimes" truly warrant such a fate?
Oh please hold me tight, hard against your chest,
I should hate you the most, but love you best.
