How I wanted a love

How I wanted a love, deep and profound
And I so sadly alighted on you:
A very average guy, so it was bound
To end in despair and regret and rue,
For though it's true I have so many faults
Average cannot be counted among these.
You can act, and that's something - but there halts
The list of your uncommonalities.
The rest is as common as a mushroom:
You sorely lack integrity; your ends
Justify means; you're an empty costume.
Average - maybe worse, like your choice of friends.
A bug, a pestilence, a toxic germ:
Heart disease, heart attack, heart break, heart worm.
